If you agree pass it on, as I just did.    Warren Buffet, in a recent interview with CNBC, offers one of the best quotes about the debt ceiling:    "I could end the deficit in five minutes," he told CNBC. "You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election".    The 26th Amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only three months and eight days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971 - before computers, e-mail, cell phones, etc.    Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took one (1) year or less to become the law of the land - all because of public pressure.    Warren Buffet is asking each addressee to forward this email to a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise.    In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed around.    Congressional Reform Act of 2015    1. No Tenure / No Pension.  A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they're out of office.    2. Congress (past, present, & future) participates in Social Security.    All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.    3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.    4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.    5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.    6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.    7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void effective 12/1/15. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen/women.    Congress made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and go back to work.    If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people, then it will only take three days for most people (in the U.S.) to receive the message. Don't you think it's time?    THIS IS HOW YOU FIX CONGRESS!

Social Security v Federal Benefit

Did you know your/my Social Security check is now referred to as a

"Federal Benefit Payment"?

I'll be part of the one percent to forward this. I am forwarding it because

it touches a nerve in me, and I hope it will in you. Please keep passing it

on until everyone in our country has read it.

The government is now referring to our Social Security checks as a "Federal

Benefit Payment." This isn't a benefit - its earned income! Not only did we 

all contribute to Social Security but our employers did too.

It totaled 15% of our income before taxes. If you averaged $30K per year

over your working life, that's close to $180,000 invested in Social

Security. If you calculate the future value of your monthly investment in

social security ($375/month, including both

your and your employer's contributions) at a meager 1% interest rate

compounded monthly, after 40 years of working you'd have more than $1.3+

million dollars saved!*****

Upon retirement, if you took out only 3% per year, you'd receive $39,318

per year, or $3,277 per month. That's almost three times more than today's

average Social Security benefit of $1,230 per month, according to the

Social Security Administration (Google it - it's a fact).

And your retirement fund would last more than 33 years (until you're 98 if

you retire at age 65)! I can only imagine how much better most

average-income people could live in retirement if our government had just

invested our money in low-risk interest-earning accounts.

Instead, the folks in Washington pulled off a bigger Ponzi scheme than

Bernie Madoff ever did. They took our money and used it elsewhere. They

"forgot" that it was OUR money they were taking. They didn't have a

referendum to ask us if we wanted to lend the money to them.

And they didn't pay interest on the debt they assumed. And recently,

they've told us that the money won't support us for very much longer. But

is it our fault they misused our investments?

And now, to add insult to injury, they're calling it a "benefit," as if we

never worked to earn every penny of it. Just because they "borrowed" the

money, doesn't mean that our investments were a charity! Let's take a

stand.

We have earned our right to Social Security and Medicare. Demand that our

legislators bring some sense into our government - Find a way to keep

Social Security and Medicare going, for the sake of that 92% of our

population who need it.

**Then call it what it is:** Our Earned Retirement Income.

And a little "P.S."  a big chunk of what we used to spend on space exploration (i.e. space station which we no longer participate in) is now going to help Muslims around the world feel better about their contributions to history !  Our tax dollars are promoting a religion that wants to kill us.  This makes no sense!  Talk about separation of church and state...ain't going on there!  (Google something to the effect of "NASA funds going for Islamic religion".  So instead of supporting Islam with our tax dollars why don't we build up the "missing funds" Congress borrowed (stole) from Social Security?  or go here

With all the Hoopla lately surrounding the death of Osama, I wonder if anyone has considered

why we treat our own civilians, "military heroes" and veterans so poorly.  I do not usually post anything regarding politics, but being a Viet Nam era vet myself, and disabled, I feel strongly urged to post this.

No one has been able to explain to me why young men and women serve in the U.S. Military for 20 years, risking their lives protecting freedom, and only get 50% of their pay. While Politicians hold their political positions in the safe confines of the capital, protected by these same men and women, and receive 

full pay retirement after serving one term.

It just does not make any sense.

Fox news recently broadcast that the staffers of Congress family members are exempt from having to pay back student loans. This will get national attention if other news networks will broadcast it. When you add this to the below, just where will all of it stop?

35 States file lawsuit against the Federal Government

Governors of 35 states have filed suit against the Federal Government for imposing unlawful burdens upon them. It only takes 38 (of the 50) States to convene a Constitutional Convention.

For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress. Many citizens had no idea that members of Congress could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws. The latest is to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform... in all of its forms. Somehow, that doesn't seem logical. We do not have an elite that is above the law. I truly don't care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever. 

The self-serving must stop.

Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution: "Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States ."
